Level 3: Ethics of the Trauma-Informed Care Trainings
A Guide to Using Trauma-Informed Somatic Principles & Practices in a Clinical Setting.

This Level 3 Ethics of Trauma-Informed Care training will build upon the principles and practices from Level 1 and 2 to help therapists continue to integrate these into a clinical setting.

In this training, we expand on ways to integrate Polyvagal Theory into a clinical setting for both personal and professional use.

We will learn enhanced somatic practices to stimulate the vagus nerve and regulate the autonomic nervous system for both self-regulation and co-regulation.

Therapists interact with trauma survivors every day, and secondary trauma's effects can have long-lasting impacts. Because trauma-informed care begins with the practitioner, this training focuses on teaching simple, effective interventions to create safety and trust with clients and colleagues.

Participants will leave with a wide variety of tools so they can better lead their agency, unit or team toward becoming a more trauma-informed organization.

You will received over 2 hours of:
  • Enhanced utilization of the principles and practices of Polyvagal Theory in a clinical setting.
  • Mapping the autonomic nervous system for both personal and professional use.
  • Enhanced breathwork, mindfulness and somatic practices for regulating the nervous system and stimulating the vagus nerve.
  • Ethical decision making processes and dilemma examples.
  • Self-massage techniques for vagus nerve stimulation and increasing vagal tone.
  • Trauma-informed practices for stress management and burnout prevention.

Training Objectives

  • Examine how the application of polyvagal theory in therapy can enhance a sense of safety for clients and support the therapeutic relationship.
  • Compose a map of the autonomic nervous system states and examine tools to regulate that stress response.
  • Demonstrate how to introduce breathing techniques with clients for nervous system regulation.
  • Describe how stress and trauma impact ethical decision making processes in a clinical setting.
